Budva

Budva is a city and municipality on the Montenegrin coast, Montenegro. It is considered one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic. According to legend, the founder of Budva was Cadmus, son of the Phoenician king Agenon, ruler of Thebes, husband of Ares and Aphrodite's daughter Harmonia. In old age, the spouses were forced to leave the city. They came to the land of the Illyrians on an ox team (hence the name Butoe - oxen) and ruled it. It is believed that the grave of Cadmus and Harmonia is located near Epidamnus, today's Durres.

As a tourist destination, this city has been known for a long time - the first tourists arrived here in 1923, and today Budva is often called the "metropolis of tourism" because it is the most visited destination in Montenegro and one of the most visited on the Adriatic. What attracts people and brings them to Budva is, above all, something that nature has gifted to this region, and it has gifted it with the inimitable beauty of the sun, the sea and a number of pearl beaches.
